Monthly Events for September 2007

21st Annual Greek Festival : Come join us for our 21st Annual Greek Festival by the Monterey Bay will be held on Labor Day Weekend, September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2007 and that time is fast approaching.

It all begins Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Monterey Custom House Plaza near the Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf and continues until 7:00 p.m. each day.

This year, we will have extended hours for a Taverna night on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the same location with a special pikilia to nibble on and music for dancing.

Also new is Yia yia’s Cusina, and we hope to bring you a couple cultural lectures each day. More than ever we need everyone’s involvement:

  • We will be cutting Souvlaki at the church on Saturday, August 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m., so bring your sharpest carving knife.

  • An August cooking schedule has been posted. The more hands helping, the easier the work!!

  • We also need volunteers working at the booths. Do not hesitate to suggest to neighbors and high school students to volunteer by signing up on the web at
www.1-800-volunteer.org Students will get community service credit for their time and have fun at the same time!

  • It is not too late to be a sponsor and to help us find other sponsors. If you need more information on sponsor levels Click the Festival 2007 Sponsor form or call Mary Kanalakis at the Church
